I couldn’t agree with this any more, nicely said… This is from a blog I frequent for inspiration (not just because her work is so pleasing, but mainly because I can really tell when someone loves what they do, pretty rare combo). Her other site always makes me want to either eat, shoot, or travel.

“Most people come back from their trips with handfuls of snapshots of friends and family, strategically posed in front of some monument or view of significance. My family, on the other hand, look through the photos that I take on our trips and wonder, how come there are never any pictures of us? My daughter, who jumps at any chance to model, looks at me in dismay when flipping through the shots, all she finds are pictures of slices of pie, signs of restaurants and, if she’s lucky, her hands offering up some local seasonal fruit. My work tends to bleed over into my personal life more than a little.

I find that I just want to bring home all the little details of the places that visit. I want a memento to remind me of the silky smoothness of the goat cheese ice cream we had in the century old farmhouse in the Loire Valley or of the bright crisp redness of the sweetheart cherries from a Yakima farm stand. My photos aren’t proof of a visit… they are portals that transport me back whenever I need a little escape.”

Ok, sorry to rain on the Palin Party, but since I don’t shoot moose or go to hockey games regularly (do people still play that sport?) I need to step in here with a reality check. Even with the experience debate aside for the moment, this woman is proud of letting “God” influence her political decisions, doesn’t believe humans cause global warming, wants to perpetually dig baby dig for oil instead of focus full effort on renewable energy, thinks that the trickle-down free market can solve any problem that anyone has ever encountered, thinks that the I-raq (eye rack) surge is anything more than buying time for a political settlement that has yet to happen, avoids the Media, knows little about the non-western outside world, and who’s office sites “executive privilege” when reporters ask for 1000 of her hidden emails to be released.

If I hadn’t mention her name, you’d really think I was talking about our current world-class President huh? It’s not just that it’s “more of the same”…it’s that its more of .. ugh.. god.. HIM..
These guys are once again fooling good ole’ down home folks to vote against their economic interests and well-being. If we can’t stop them this time, it might very well be easier to arm the moose in Alaska and teach them to shoot back.

If “Change” has been a nicely packaged selling point to voters over the past year, then Obama is the iPod, McCain is the Zune. Let’s hope the iPod continues to have the larger market share over it’s imitators this coming November.

Baracko really came out swinging at the Convention last night huh? As he was speaking, I couldn’t help but become overjoyed at the thought of him winning the Presidency. One day when my daughter is old enough to understand, we’ll be sipping our lattes and discussing how back when I was her age, only a certain type of pedigree was considered best-suited to run this country. Then we can break out in laughter and high-fives.

But hold on! McCain seems to have just moved up half a notch on the coolness scale by selecting a former beauty pageant runner-up as his VP (note..her wiki bio was literally just updated: Sarah Louise Heath Palin is the hot Governor of Alaska…. they now replaced “hot” with “current”. Hilarious). Hm.. I might have to reconsider my…. naw.. nevermind.

She’s speaking live now and keeps saying “I”raq (eye-rack). I have a peeve in which I can’t seriously vote for anyone who can’t even pronounce Iraq (ee-rock).

That’s the code for 15% off from US to Lima, Peru on AA. Wish we could go again. Although it’s still probably way more expensive even with the discount than what we paid a couple of years ago. But actually, 2011 would be a nice time to revisit, with the 100th anniversary and the return of it’s artifacts from Yale (although I hear this is yet again mired in controversy). Our daughter will be 2+ by then, maybe she can enjoy all of Machu Picchu’s newly restored colors with us!

Assuming the Spanish Olympic basketball team was even sincere in their ridiculous explanation for this picture of the team posing while pulling their eyes back, someone in their country might want to finally send them the memo that that is not a good thing to do.

We’re actually getting a bit excited about the upcoming Olympics. We even invited ourselves over to Dad’s house to watch the opening ceremony in HD. Since our television isn’t nearly as nice. Hoping all the China coverage might re-inspire me to study Mandarin again, we’ll see. I was learning it so well in college too, dang.
