If anyone understands this commercial, please feel free to explain. I have no idea. I hope the series gets better, or at least somewhat humorous.

Last Day

Filed Under General | 2 Comments

The day has finally come to pack my bags at work and go on mat leave. I’ve been waiting for this day for over 9 months. I thought this day would never come and now that it is here, it doesn’t feel as good as I imagine it would be. Partially its because my work load has slow down since August so the last months has been quite light for me. Another possiblity could be my short term memory is not functioning so I don’t remember how much I want to leave my job but couldn’t because my little meatloaf is not done cooking yet.

I don’t think I’ll miss anything about working. I won’t miss forcing myself to wake up in the morning. I won’t miss riding the train to go to work. I won’t miss eating shitty food around my work. I won’t miss all the BS that comes with work. I won’t miss endless meaningless meetings. I won’t miss all the compnay parties or events. I won’t miss working late. I won’t miss rushing to the train station to catch my train. I won’t miss making shit up for my performance review that has nothing to do with my annual raise.  I’m pretty much ready to go but now that my last day is here, I don’t feel a sense of relief. Maybe it’s because I’m still technically working but from home until the baby decides to come out. Come Monday, i still have to wake up in time to log into my computer and pretend to be working.

That’s the code for 15% off from US to Lima, Peru on AA.  Wish we could go again. Although it’s still probably way more expensive even with the discount than what we paid a couple of years ago. But actually, 2011 would be a nice time to revisit, with the 100th anniversary and the return of it’s artifacts from Yale (although I hear this is yet again mired in controversy). Our daughter will be 2+ by then, maybe she can enjoy all of Machu Picchu’s newly restored colors with us!

Cole Calace, our third nephew, was born this past Friday, August 15th. The exact time, I’m not sure, but he weighed in at around 8 lbs. He’s healthy and looking good.

Assuming the Spanish Olympic basketball team was even sincere in their ridiculous explanation for this picture of the team posing while pulling their eyes back, someone in their country might want to finally send them the memo that that is not a good thing to do.

Well, I guess the conclusion now is that they’re either A) racist or B) drop dead bimbo-style dumb and tacky.

Forget the Yao Ming game, what an insane race by our US swim team.  We’re not normally screaming American fans during competition, but we jumped off the couch screaming at the end of this one.  And a special thanks to the heavily favored French swim team for declaring that they would smash the US, I think it made the win that much sweeter.  Hoping Michael Phelps goes all the way and wins all the gold that he can, seems like he deserves it.

In other news, the newly created nursery in our second bedroom underwent some minor improvements this weekend. An electrician helped us re-wire our ceiling circuitry for a new light fixture and wall dimmer.  I think with that (and still waiting for the crib to be back in stock), the newborn’s sanctuary is just about ready. Hope she’ll like it.

Took me a bit longer than 5 minutes to install the “Famous 5 Minute Installation” of Wordpress, but it’s finally up.  What to do now…should be interesting.  Lots to play with.
