Forget the Yao Ming game, what an insane race by our US swim team.  We’re not normally screaming American fans during competition, but we jumped off the couch screaming at the end of this one.  And a special thanks to the heavily favored French swim team for declaring that they would smash the US, I think it made the win that much sweeter.  Hoping Michael Phelps goes all the way and wins all the gold that he can, seems like he deserves it.

In other news, the newly created nursery in our second bedroom underwent some minor improvements this weekend. An electrician helped us re-wire our ceiling circuitry for a new light fixture and wall dimmer.  I think with that (and still waiting for the crib to be back in stock), the newborn’s sanctuary is just about ready. Hope she’ll like it.

What happened to the first 32 weeks you wonder? Well, I was busy thinking maybe to setup a blog the whole time.  It’s good to know I didn’t procrastinate all the way to week 40 and delivery, I’m getting better at getting things done as you can see.

Joanne is doing well for the most part. Aside from the ocassional heartburn, fatigue, nose bleed, and severe leg cramps while sleeping, everything seems to be going smooth and on schedule. We just finished a tiring month of July going to several evening birthing classes at ENH.  Got to perform infant CPR and bathing techniques on baby dolls, that was wild. The male circumcision treatment portion made me a bit queazy however. Even though it was a doll, I still felt the pain when ripping that ointment pad off to change it.  We obviously won’t have to worry about that with a daughter this time around, whew.

Nursery almost there, crib back in stock soon (IKEA), child car seat installed (and passed inspection!), baby clothes washed (thanks to all who contributed hand-me-downs), working on a Pediatrician, still deciding on a couple of potential names, and only a handful of necessary items that we still need before the little one arrives. More later..

We’re actually getting a bit excited about the upcoming Olympics. We even invited ourselves over to Dad’s house to watch the opening ceremony in HD. Since our television isn’t nearly as nice. Hoping all the China coverage might re-inspire me to study Mandarin again, we’ll see. I was learning it so well in college too, dang.

Took me a bit longer than 5 minutes to install the “Famous 5 Minute Installation” of Wordpress, but it’s finally up.  What to do now…should be interesting.  Lots to play with.
